Let’s face it, every business is looking for creativity from their employees. These are the employees that can really get something started in the business. The people that will knock-the- socks-off of potential clients and board members. How can businesses squeeze creativeness out of their employees? By investing in employees, of course!

Here are three tips to boost creativity:

Tip 1: Make time for the thinking process

Coming up with a fantastic idea won’t happen at the drop of a hat. Because of this, it is important that any business allows time for their employees to think and ponder ways to improve the business. Some businesses allow for quite a bit of time for thinking. For example, Google offers their team special ‘think pods’ where they can go to rest, think and build on their creativeness.

Tip 2: Apply some Pressure

There is no denying that pressure at work will cause employees to act differently. While some employees buckle under pressure, the majority will rise to the occasion and develop something phenomenal. When you are looking for a great amount of creativity from your team, developing timelines and deadlines can be just the push that is needed.

Tip 3: Change up the Routine

Nothing allows a team to get into a rut better than a grounded routine. While a routine is important when it comes to completing tasks in a timely manner, it is also something that can hinder creativity. One idea to help encourage creativity is to switch up your team’s location. Sometimes all that is needed is a change of scenery. Try having a weekly outing or meeting with your team outside or another location where their creativity will have the opportunity to flourish.

Since creativity is one of the most important skills when it comes to growing and developing a company, it is important that businesses are able to provide their team with the tools that they need to develop the skill. By applying these tips in the workplace, your team will begin to develop more creativity and you will be surprised at the ideas that they are suddenly able to produce.
