TruScore has been assisting managers and executives in becoming better leaders for 50 years. Originally established as The Booth Company in 1972 by Dr. Daniel J. Booth, Ed.D., TruScore has grown from a one-person consultancy to a full-service assessment solution provider for fortune 1000 organizations.

For many years, TruScore has provided trustworthy, validated, and role-specific 360 assessments. This has not changed in the 50 years that the business has been in operation; in fact, demand for high-caliber 360 assessments has grown. In addition to its own line of assessments, TruScore offers custom assessment authoring, competency mapping, a wide array of assessment hosting solutions, and executive coaching. “Our customers can completely leave their assessment needs to us, allowing them to focus on what they do best while outsourcing a niche component of training and development to a company that has been doing this for decades. We offer a full-service experience that is becoming less and less common in our industry. Sure, we have an automated self-service option for those who want that control level. But there is still a high demand for a fully customized solution and white glove service, and that’s where we shine.” according to CEO Derek Murphy.

TruScore’s commitment to developing leadership talent is something the company takes seriously and it shows in the assessment platform. According to Tom Kuhne, managing partner and CTO, “Our dedication to investing in our TruScore® hosting platform in order to provide our clients with the tools they need is ongoing. Over the past 18 months, we’ve completely revamped the assessment experience for the participants. These improvements have improved the overall efficiency of the evaluation process and decreased technical support issues. In addition, we’ve launched a 360 Analytics Dashboard which provides clients with the ability to build their own aggregated views of their data using a variety of filters.” Tom Kuhne also went on to say, “We are excited about where we are on our 50th anniversary and we look forward to what is on the horizon and beyond.”

Its comprehensive set of surveys measure the fundamental skills of mission-critical organizational roles, including executives, first-line and middle managers. The survey results are compared to continuously updated industry and country norms.
When The Booth Company trademarked the term 720 feedback in 1999, nearly 70% of large corporations and government agencies were conducting 360 programs. Now, according to HR Magazine, 90% of large organizations report utilizing 360s, with small to mid-size companies beginning to realize the benefits as well.

“We believe the trend will continue as companies search for ways to outpace their competitors and develop talent through 360 feedback.” Josh Sheets, Director of Operations continues, “Through their commitment to 360 programs and the subsequent 720, successful companies cultivate a culture of learning and continual development.

After 15 years of providing 720 Feedback solutions, statistically validated assessments continue to be at the foundation of TBC’s offerings. Having a psychometrically sound instrument is a critical component of 720 feedback and allows clients to place trust in, and take action upon, the final results. With this anniversary, TBC marks another important milestone in their mission to provide customized and highly-effective 360 assessment solutions.

The Booth Company (TBC), a global assessment provider with over 4 decades of experience, specializing in 360s and survey customization has recently announced a deal to partner with Harrison Assessments. This new partnership rounds out TBC’s capabilities and positions them as a global leader in validated 360 content, survey customization, intelligent assessment hosting, and now – Talent Decision Analytics.

In the age of big data, talent analytics is quickly becoming one of the most sought after tools for companies looking to improve employee selection, retention, and succession planning. The Harrison Assessment has proven to be a highly-predictive tool that measures a candidates’ suitability for a given role, and it was recently awarded the highly coveted Best Advance in Candidate Selection Technology by the prestigious Brandon Hall Group.

“Our core mission has always been to provide world class talent development tools for our customers,” said Derek Murphy, CEO of The Booth Company, “Talent development is part of a life cycle that begins with selecting the right candidates. Combining the Harrison Assessments with our existing services will allow us to provide robust, end-to-end development solutions.”

Unlike assessments that indicate personality styles, the Harrison Assessment predicts, with a high degree of accuracy, a person’s likelihood of success in a given position by identifying traits that differentiate high performers from low performers. In addition, the wrap-around technology allows a company to integrate scalable talent and selection programs that reduce cost while increasing overall effectiveness.

Some of the key features of the Harrison Assessment Include the ability to:

Make data-driven hiring decisions with a greater degree of success

Reduce costs associated with turnover and unsuccessful new hires

Provide strong validity and legal compliance without adverse impact

Automate internal and external talent pools with advanced technology

Easily customize from an existing library of over 6500 Job Profiles

The predictive nature and overall validity of the Harrison Assessment was the key driver in TBC’s decision to incorporate this into their assessment solutions practice. According to Josh Sheets, Director of Operations, “we wanted a tool that would provide value to our clients, but most importantly we knew it had to deliver data our clients can trust.” Based on multiple validation studies, the Harrison Assessment appears to provide just that: highly predictive, reliable data. It’s this reliability that will further bolster TBC’s already strong reputation of providing valid 360 surveys. The partnership is now fully operational and marks an exciting chapter in TBC’s evolution as a provider of Leadership Development Solutions.

Based on early and strong demand, this program appears to be the long awaited answer for the many consultancies that need quick access to a validated 360 solution that is price competitive and ready to launch. This program is simple, has a low cost of entry and it’s powered by TBC’s industry leading assessments and their cutting-edge survey hosting platform, TruScore.

“This program was specifically designed to help our Consultants evolve and stay competitive in a changing landscape,” said Josh Sheets, Director of Operations at TBC. “Gone are the days of transactionally selling 360s to customers. Today’s customers demand leadership development solutions that are custom fit to their needs.

The Booth Company (TBC), a global assessment company with over 4 decades of experience, specializing in 360 degree feedback and survey customization, has 4 surveys featured in the recently published “Feedback to Managers: A Guide to Reviewing and Selecting Multirater Instruments for Leadership Development.”

The 4th edition of the book “Feedback to Managers: A Guide to Reviewing and Selecting Multirater Instruments for Leadership Development” written by CCL’s Director of Applied Research Services, Jean Brittain Leslie, features an in-depth look at 35 different instruments. This is the 4th time that TBC’s surveys have been featured in the Feedback to Managers publication dating back to 1978. Each instrument report includes descriptive information, a look at the research behind each instrument and outlines the criteria determined valuable in selecting a tool valid for organizations wanting to develop their leaders and organizational members through the use of 360 feedback assessments.

The four tools selected from TBC for review include: the ELS (Executive Leadership Survey) ideal for top-level executives, the SLP now known as the LEQ (Leadership EQ) ideal for any professional responsible for initiating and leading change, the LCM (Leadership Competencies for Managers) intended for first-line managers and middle managers, and the SMP (Survey of Management Practices) ideal for managers at all levels, from first-line supervisors to top management.

“We are excited to have four of our surveys featured in this publication,“ explains TBC CEO Derek Murphy, “there are so many tools on the market that claim to have the ability to accurately measure leadership behavior, guided by the necessary competencies to coach and train around. It is good to have a research guide that organizations can rely on in order to find proven assessment solutions for development.”

The ELS, LEQ, LCM and SMP surveys are all built around the Task Cycle® methodology, which was developed in 1973 by 360 degree feedback pioneer and American organizational psychologist Dr. Clark L. Wilson. “In essence, the Task Cycle is a leveraged sequence model that helps both the participant and their coach to prioritize what’s most important to focus on in their development plan,” explains Derek Murphy.

Of course, reliable content is only half the battle these days. Equally important is a well-designed, intuitive, online platform. A positive user experience for the participants, raters, and administrators is critical to a successful assessment initiative. “We have come a long way since administering paper surveys back in the 70’s,” explains Tom Kuhne, Managing Partner and CTO of TBC, “today organizations not only need a reliable survey but they also require a flexible and easy-to-use online portal, complete with automated email reminders, to streamline the entire process.” TruScore® is designed to be compatible with a broad range of assessments, making it an ideal platform for independently authored surveys, custom surveys, corporate university content, as well as TBC’s line of validated assessments.

The Booth Company (TBC), a global assessment company with over 4 decades of experience, specializing in 360 feedback and survey customization, announces additional language translations now available within the user-interface of the industry-leading assessment portal TruScore®.

TBC has offered multiple languages for decades, but our international expansion and the needs of our clients to offer leadership development assessments in international locations has driven us to expand our language offerings more recently.

Participants can manage their survey projects by choosing one of the 17 languages currently available. The languages include: English, Brazilian Portuguese, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Danish, French (Canadian), French (France), German, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Romanian, Russian, Spanish and Turkish. Recent additions include Dutch and Swedish, with Norwegian becoming available in early 2014. In addition to the portal translations, the rater survey UI and the standard participant/rater emails are also available in these respective languages. The translation of specific surveys varies by demand, with our mid-level Leadership Competencies for Managers 360 available in most languages.

“The ability to offer multiple languages within our TruScore Portal has resulted in an increase in TBC’s international growth over the last 40 years,” explained Tom Kuhne, Managing Partner and CTO of TBC, “We have many Fortune 1000 clients with large international presences, and it is important for participants in various locations to be included in corporate-wide leadership programs. We strive to ensure our clients are more than satisfied with our offerings and will continue to help our clients improve upon their international leadership development growth for years to come.”

A longtime technological leader in the talent development industry, The Booth Company released TruScore® back in 2007 and has been improving upon the technology ever since. TruScore® is designed to be compatible with a broad range of assessments, making it an ideal platform for independently authored surveys, custom surveys, corporate university content, as well as TBC’s line of validated assessments.

The Booth Company (TBC), an international provider of 360 degree feedback and survey hosting solutions announces the release of a new Sales Management Survey that addresses the growing importance of including first-line and middle sales managers into an organizational development plan.

With the stagnant economy, organizations rely more intensely on the sales team to grow both existing and new revenue channels. First-line and middle sales managers are at the core of the sales process and a business-critical part of an organization. However these employees are often overlooked when it comes to training and development programs. Ironically, organizations seem to have a close eye on sales but often overlook the possibility of improving their sales team by including them in the company’s organizational development initiatives.

The Sales Management Survey (SMS) not only helps sharpen communication and teamwork skills, but they are designed to stretch the sales skill development and goals into early stages of leadership competencies. “Sales managers have the unique responsibility of implementing sales strategies and achieving sales goals,” explains Derek Murphy, CEO of The Booth Company, “this challenge is the basis for the sales management survey, giving the sales manager valuable feedback specific to the sales management role to create a starting point for on-going development.”

The SMS is built on the Task Cycle® theory which is comprised of six sequential phases that are relevant to managing and leading for change. The SMS includes eighteen competencies measured under these six Task Cycle® phases: Establishing the Purpose, Laying the Foundation, Sustaining the Effort, Feedback, Driving toward Success, and Recognition.

For more information about the SMS Survey or any other survey that The Booth Company offers, please contact Hank Curtis at 303.865.3776.
